East-West to host Washington event

The East-West Foundation is hosting a special event on October 30, in Washington D.C. to celebrate the completion of the First Class of the Gabr Fellows.

On October 19, 2013, the Gabr Fellows will reconvene in the United States for the second phase of the cultural exchange involving seminars and discussions covering a wide spectrum of subjects including visits to New York, New Haven, Atlanta, Virginia, and Washington, DC.

The Fellows have undertaken collaborative projects as part of their exchange to leverage their experience to their peers and communities. These collaborative projects will be highlighted during the event on Wednesday October 30, 2013 at 4.00 pm at The Four Seasons Hotel, Washington, D.C.

During the event there will be open dialogue with the Fellows regarding their experiences in Egypt and the US, with the engagement of American and Egyptian public personalities.

Discussions will be moderated by:

Dr. Daniel Shapiro, director, Harvard International Negotiation Program

Dr. James Zogby, president, Arab American Institute

With special remarks from:

Thomas Friedman, author, reporter, and New York Times columnist

The discussion will be followed by a dinner reception.
