14 February 2017
On Tuesday, February 14, 2017, Gabr Fellow alumni based in and visiting Egypt gathered at ARTOC headquarters, listened to Chairman Shafik Gabr of the Shafik Gabr Foundation (US) talk about the importance of their action projects and insight on them. The action projects undertaken by the Fellows are business enterprises or philanthropic initiatives, designed to create impact and build bridges between the United States, Western World, with Egypt and the Greater Middle East.
At the meeting, the Gabr Fellows discussed their greatest challenges as well as their next steps forward with their action projects after having received feedback from the chairman as well as peers. The early stage brainstorming of a Fellow Alumni retreat was also discussed. The Fellows provided their feedback to the chairman on their interests, expectations, and ideas for a future retreat.
The Gabr Fellows and Chairman Shafik Gabr discussed books worth reading, international relations, cross-cultural dialogue, the upcoming 2017 fellowship, as well as prospective special projects, and events.
